Dr Kiel reviews the research about cardio exercise in the morning after an overnight fast. Does it maximize fat loss? SportsMedReview https://www.sportsmedreview.com/by-joint/ Wiki Sports Medicine https://wikism.org/Main_Page From a biochemistry and metabolic standpoint, this is an intuitive concept. When you wake up after having not eaten for 8 or more hours, your circulating insulin levels have dropped and you should be in a so-called fasting state. Theoretically, you are tapping into whatever is left of your overnight glycogen stores and shifting over to free fatty acid metabolism for energy production. This leads to the conclusion that a hard workout or cardio workout in the morning should be an efficient fat burning workout. The question becomes, does the evidence support that notion? Carbohydrate metabolism is complicated but you should understand how it works. Carbs can be referred to as starches, sugar, glucose, monosaccharide, polysaccharide, fructose, galactose, lactose, maltose, and sucrose. The purpose is to produce cellular energy, adenosine triphosphate, ATP and includes electron transports chain. This is known as aerobic respiratory and includes the citrus acid cycle, TCA, electron transport chain. There are many sources of carbs, they can be simple or complex. You should understand carb cycling, deficit, metabolism, anabolism, catabolism, breakdown, macromolecules, macronutrients, synthesis, counting carbs, daily requirements, diabetes mellitus, digestion, glycogen, gluconeogenesis, and glycolysis as it’s all very important and complex. Protein metabolism is complicated but important! Proteins contain amino acids and may be referred to as amino acid chain, branched chain amino acids, peptide, and polypeptides. Sources of protein include whey protein, brown rice, eggs and egg white, protein bars, protein shakes, milk, and many more. You may also hear of c reactive protein, creatine, casein and those are discussed elsewhere. You should understand protein synthesis, protein break down, proteolysis, catabolism versus anabolism, protein building, fasting, fed, starvation, building muscle, skeletal muscle, macronutrients or macromolecules, overall nutrition, and metabolism.
