We id="hidden8" class="buttons"> actually found our cozy ranch on an auction site! Built in '59, it's all brick with a basement (a requirement for us, due to tornados that blow through the area).
It needed major work clearing all that was left behind by original owner, as well as cleaning.
Then Hubby started renovating, altering our floor plan.
The original 4 bed/1&1/2 bath is transitioning to a 3 bed/3bath plan.
The original full bath /w walk in shower remains, while a new master en suite is being created! Our third bath will be in the basement level. The original half bath has been converted to a laundry closet perfect for us:)!!
I love what Hubby has designed and continues to build!
He also removed an imposing closet that infringed on the space of our kitchen dining area, so there's now room for a small buffet:).
It is ideal for this season of life and we are so grateful for God's provision and blessing!
You are so wise, your hubby and you, to make a new decision; looking forward to seeing your new digs and all the loveliness you'll create for yourselves:)!!

Love the idea of getting a fixer upper, I am dying to do that but at our age it would have to be smaller home only in the fact that our age comes into play. I have always wanted to do that but with all our transfers it has been literally impossible as well. I keep looking for one closer to town as I am tired of the distance to town for business and appointments and so on. Problem is we have had our place here in the country for 46 years and I love the country but the time to commute to convenience is crazy especially with the growth coming out this way. It is unreal how this area has grown. So many housing areas and so much clearing of huge acres of land and subdivisions. It's nuts! I get upset with the bidding wars as the price of homes todays is beyond what I would have imagined and then to bid them up higher is NUTS! I feel badly for those trying to buy a home today with the bidding situation and sad that All American Dream has sort of turned in a way into a nightmare! How do our children ever afford a home in this day and age! I guess I better get off my soap box.LOL Just saying!!!!
Best of hunt on a fixer upper and I would love to be doing the same! You and your husband are so talented and capable that I know you could do it in a fabulous way!

As soon as we see somthing it is gone within 24 hrs as well.
So we have decided to buy property and build what we want.
