AMAZING Mahara Dancer Set el Hosen Live Show with Mohamed Azra Brazilian bellydancer Mahara performing the classic Set el Hosen played by the amazing musicians at her home town, Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Mohamed Azra at the keyboards and vocals, George Mouzayek plays the tabla and Raouf Jemni plays the beautiful qanoun. The song "Set el Hosen" was written by Mohamed Sultan for the legendary egyptian dancer Nagwa Fouad, one of the stars of the Golden Age in Egypt (1950/1960). Mohamed was the husband of the famous singer Faiza Ahmed. The phrase Set el Hosen is very common in Egypt and its used to talk about a woman who catch more attention amongst the others. The words are used to describe a woman who is prettier than the most. It means (roughly) "Prettiest of the Pretty" or even "Queen of the Pretty". It does not mean only "Beautiful Lady" as some people believe. There is another song with same name which was used in a movie, that contain lyrics, but thats a completely different song. Mohamed´s Sultan Set el Hosen doesn´t have any lyrics. Another fact: "Set el Hosen" is also a character in arabic fairytales and bedtime stories and the beladonna plant (nightshade) is also called "Set el Hosen" in Egypt.
