Crimsix ripped the Call of Duty League for hosting big money events in high income tax states, saying Activision is lucky the pros aren’t boycotting. Crimsix used an example from Call of Duty League Championships last year, where the players wound up taking home just over $100,000 of their $300,000 in prize money thanks to California’s high state taxes and the federal tax rate. If the event had been held in a low or no state income tax venue, like Texas or Nevada, that would have put over $30,000 back in Crimsix and Clayster’s pockets. Crimsix isn’t the only big esports star to mention the pain of state taxes. Bugha famously had to pay over a quarter million dollars of his Fortnite World Cup prize money to the state of New York, and Ninja likewise had to pay a huge chunk in state taxes after his big Mixer payout from last year. Crimsix says the only reason he is pointing out the high state taxes is because Activision is forcing the Call of Duty League pros to buy their own friends and family event passes for all of Stage 5 and for this year’s Championship. And when you are losing $30,000 to state taxes thanks to the venue the league picked, you can understand Crimsix’s point // SPONSORED BY Use Code: "Esports Talk" for 25% off Rogue Energy: http://bit.ly/EsportsTalkRogue // FOLLOW US Talent: Jake: https://twitter.com/JakeSucky Hunter: https://twitter.com/HUN2R Producer: Peter: https://twitter.com/VegasVanguards Esports Talk is your leading source of gaming and esports news.
