A common household product has been shown to be the cheapest and most effective way to reduce the risk of eczema in babies, according to a new study published in JAMA Pediatrics. "Dermatologists are always encouraging people to protect their skin," says Mayo Clinic pediatric dermatologist Dr. Dawn Davis, who was not part of the research. "This study emphasizes the importance of moisturization for newborns in reducing the risk for the rashes and itching of eczema."
