@Yucci3 years ago Honestly, the censorship of RE4VR wasn't a big deal for me, it was just the FACT that they did it that annoyed me. At least include a toggle for explicit content or whatever. I really wonder how much of GTA SA in VR will be censored. If there's any censorships I really do hope they include the ability to enable explicit content cause in GTA you'll loose a bit of the game if you censor parts of it.

@DevineInnovations3 years ago People don't feel that the missing lines of dialogue in RE4 ruin the game. It's the fact that they were censored that people are upset about. It's about principle. Now it might just be a few unimportant lines of dialogue. But what will it be next time? ... 15

@greattantrum5233 years ago PC VR is still legit. Tons of games there especially if you want to play flying or driving sims. For me if I have the cash right now is to buy a PC or upgrade your PC. The best graphics and great games are still only on PC for VR. With that said, I never tried standalone VR yet and I understand that it is amazing tech. But I do not believe we should call off PC's for our VR enjoyment yet. Besides if you buy a Quest 2 right now and also have a good PC, You can enjoy the best of both. Don't forget about project Cambria. Meta's new VR headset coming next year. Mr. Zuckerberg said it will be "compatible with Quest" which seems to tell me that it is a high end headset for both PC and standalone. It looks like Meta is not totally done with the PC market yet. And there are also always alternative VR tech for PC such as Samsung G2, Valve Index, HTC Vive, Pimax 8K etc.. Companies who still commit to PC based VR today. ... 37

@magma52673 years ago i dont care about the RE4 VR Censorship, what i hate is how standardized censorshipping games has become, First it started with the ridiculous Superhot VR Censorship and im hoping it doesnt keep going on, As for PCVR i kinda disagree a bit as someone that used to lurk the VR Community with no PC and no VR Headset i had to save up for a very long time for both and i can easily confidently say that spending 1K on my PC just to enjoy games like HLA, Boneworks, B&S and such has always felt worth it to me, its just VR experiences that are so good its kinda hard to even explain them to a Quest user ... 12

@matrix94523 years ago I see games as a form of art thats why I dont like censorship, also even if minor censoring if nobody pushback they just gonna get more and more confortable and invasive.
When you dont care about an game that much, is easier to dismiss, but eventually when an game you really like get censored will be too late to complain, thats why I incentivize everyone to complain even if you gonna still play it, just for them o have this feedback.
RE4 is for me one of the best games of all time, thats why I didnt like the change. ... 22

@Low-Key1233 years ago I am sick of all the censorship. All to appease a small group of people who don't even buy the games.
But instead want to push their agenda and brand of politics into everyone's entertainment.
So more people need to speak out, and vote with their wallets.
Because when you say nothing and just buy a product.. you're effectively giving developers the green light to take another step on their destructive path.
Its a slow creeping crawl, that's barely noticeable until its far too late.
As for GTA... if I remember right. There was heavy censorship in certain countries like Germany, that wanted the drugs, blood, and the ability to blast off body parts.. like the head.. gone.
So I expect that's what they'll do. ... 10

@AKCobra11203 years ago I think new VR development will be focused on the Quest and PSVR, but PCVR is going to get a lot of VR mods for existing games. A couple of recent examples are Valheim and Mechwarrior 5. I think this will keep PCVR alive until cloud based VR is a thing, at which point everything will shift back. Whether or not this makes it worth it to invest in a VR ready PC right now is an individual choice. I guess what I'd advise people just getting in is to buy a Quest 2 for starters and see what it has to offer. That will probably be plenty for most people, but if you really get the bug you can take the next step with confidence that you aren't wasting your money. ... 2

@zantrex43 years ago PCVR is the only way, in my opinion. Id rather keep playing Skyrim VR/Fo4 VR, NMS, Pavlov with mods, B&S with mods, Alyx, and the insane library of "pancake" games that translate GREAT to VR experiences with Vorpx and have to pay $2k total for a great experience than having nothing but tech demos on Quest.
Honestly, even GTA sounds a little lackluster knowing it will be a Quest release with horrible textures, short draw distance, and much more gated content. ... 9

@ImmersiveGamer833 years ago Once components come back to reality in terms of cost then buy a pc but if you are interested in VR buy a quest 2 and there is always the option to link to pc with air link or VD down the line if you want or wait and see what PSVR2 is saying ... 1

@74amazing3 years ago PC VR: well, if you got a q2, if you love vr and if you have enough money, go for a powerful (!) pc. I have been lucky to get a rtx 3080 for a good price, and I do not regret it at all. HL:A alone is worth it. And there are plenty of games on the market, that would justify it (just ask your mate beardo). BUT: because of the semiconductor shortage that is still going on, you got to keep in mind, that gpu prices are crazy for more than a year now. So generally speaking: it just ain’t reasonable to buy a powerful (vr) gaming pc right now… ... 2

So It honestly comes down to what kind of games you want to play. Especially with all the talk about the flat to VR gaming community.
for example, you're not going to be able to play the other REVR games on anything but a PC for the time being. ... 1

@davidshoemaker44373 years ago I think that if you have a VR-capable pc you need to take advantage of either an air-link or VR desktop to play wireless VR games, a game like Skyrim that I got on sale for $14 and added the mods is an amazing experience. or No Mans sky, will keep you playing for months.
That being said, unless you are already planning to get a new computer, I also would say wait, if you are just getting into VR. Computers and parts are expensive right now, and there are things like Nvida GeFore now (cloud gaming), coming around the corner that might be a better option than dropping $1500 for a new rig. (and that will not get you the RTX 3070 or 3080 card in it). If you get an oculus 2 today, you will have plenty to play for the next 6 months - year, and time to consider your pc options. ... 1

Like you, I’ve got a PC that let’s me play PCVR games, but more and more I’m reaching for my quest 2 to get my VR fix from standalone. There are so many sick games and experiences already out, and coming soon,l for standalone that until the studios step up and make some big announcements for PCVR, I’d save your money. I would say that pcvr will never truly die as purist and simmers will always want the best specs for their pcvr rigs and invest tonnes of money into the extras like hotas/steering wheels and pedals etc. the reason i got a pc in the first place was because i wanted the extra grunt that only a pc could provide (i started with psvr) and being teethered really does not bother me, although i will say i love index but if the quest 2 was available when i got it i defo would have considered the quest 2 purely for the option to do stand alone and pcvr take care bud and il look forward to the next vid ... 2

@Juggalo422403 years ago From what I'm told, Rockstar has only agreed to this based on the understanding that they have 100% creative control, no censorship. They said they can put whatever content warnings or labels on it they want to, but NO CENSORING THEIR WORK. That's just what I've personally read and seen from several other sources. Hope to God it's true! ...

@dan_kitty_vr51073 years ago pcvr will always go through cycles...but at the moment the main reason not to recomend getting a pc is the criminal priceing for gpu's. pcvr will have its day again after psvr 2 drops and devs can drop big titles on both platforms ... 3

My laptop with 1660ti was not fast enough for MSFS 2020…
Well… the 3090 is not fast enough also to have both Ultra details AND quest2 native resolution (5400x2700), I had to lower some settings to keep the native resolution… and OC the 3090. ... 2

@mastafoo8863 years ago I dunno man, there are some important quest games coming out sure; but most of the absolute best VR games are on PC, or are at the very least significantly better on PC. Really most of the VR game library itself is on PC, so even if there is not currently a AAA PCVR exclusive on the horizon (that weve been told about) the rather enormous library that already exists should hold most people over for the time being. And thats not even bringing the VR mods for other games into the picture (like all of the modern Resident Evil games that are getting a VR mod).
I have both, and as much as i prefer my dedicated wireless Steam/OpenVR setup i cant deny the fact that the Quest line does PCVR as well as any other inside out tracked device, and is a bit cheaper, so doing both is cheaper than it ever has been & Llighthouse based tracking is still way better if one wants to/can spend the money on it.
Far as the censorship for GTA:SA goes, that is some real 'tread lightly' territory on the end of the devs/publishers/project backers. Unlike RE4; there is nothing that can actually be censored (and in that case its not even really censorship, if Capcom said 'yeah that bit of our old product has not aged well, cutting it isnt going to hurt the game' its not censorship its updating a new version of existing product; censorship would be going back and changing or getting rid of all the old versions that still had the lines) in a meaningful way without taking out whole ass mechanics that are integral to the game, which I really dont see R*, or the fans really allowing. GTA is a super mature game, if parents buy this one for their kids its on them. ... 2

@WaterBoiGaming.3 years ago I would recommend jumping into VR with the quest but DO invest into a pc. The graphical comparison and complexity of the games are unmatched. You need a lot of power to run VR games but I have a RTX 2060 and it does me just fine! Half life:alyx was the reason I got a gaming pc and it felt like I was playing videos for the first time in my life again. When you load into the world and see how detailed it is you get so amazed with how technology has come and get excited for the future. I never knew a Game could look so good! That only started my VR journey. This is the future and I am happy to be apart of it. ... 1

Since it was done and they have received very little pushback, it has opened the gates to censure everything. Eventually they're gonna ban or censure something that you care about you and other people will be like what's the big deal, it doesn't bother me. If people still consider games to be art, I don't understand how people could be ok with this. I just hope that this port will change that in the futur and we can get some of their games on pc too. @TheWarmotor3 years ago 1.5k is going to get you a budget CPU with a 1650… for me the sweet spot would be more like 2.5k with a 3070 or 6X00 XT. I haven’t actually looked at prices for a couple months now but I doubt it’s any better, buying a non-RT is basically throwing your money away and getting a system with an actual decent GPU you get the rest of the parts basically for free vs. scalper pricing. ... 1

@izzyhope583 years ago I think pc vr is gonna become similar to pc gaming in the sense that, games will still come to pc vr but there gonna be designed for the stand alone headsets and have the limitations of stand alone headsets, just like how a lot of modern flat screen games are limited by consoles. @conchobar3 years ago When it comes to Facebook censoring games that are ported to the Quest, you have to remember that the Quest is a device for 13 year olds and over. The systems these games were ported from don't have such age restrictions, so why is Facebook censoring the games at all? If a RE:4 was originally released on the Gamecube AKA KiddieCube, why would the 13 year+ required Quest need further censoring? ... 1

@praxtron3 years ago The biggest reason I think the downfall of pc vr is the lack of developers creating games with PS3/4 level graphics. PCs have more than enough processing power to run GTA 5 in VR today, and you can do it with mods, it's just the interactions/experience aren't translated correctly. The world space is able to be rendered no problem. ...

@midnightrocker73 years ago when do you think GTA San Andreas vr is coming to the Quest 2? probably at the end of 2022 perhaps?, maybe a little earlier than that?, they announced Resident Evil 4 vr last year, and it just came out, by the time GTA San Andreas vr comes out, the Oculus Quest 3 will be released, we probably need a Oculus Quest 3 for a open world game like GTA San Andreas vr, pcvr games right now are kind of dull and stale, I think the latest best game that has been released for pcvr is Lone Echo 2, that's about it though for now, nothing has been really exciting ever since Half Life Alyx came out in 2020 ... 1

I just love the ease of Native Oculus Quest, and the games library for me is stronger on Native Oculus Quest than PCVR and it looks to be getting stronger every bloody day! ... 3

I was blown away with empathy playing Westworld and feeling the fear of being a victim in the way it portrays. I am the last person to want censorship in any artform, but inhabiting a character in that way can be traumatic or abusive to people if it is done wrong. I hope VR brings us closer together as humans and doesn't harm people along the way. ... 2

@rickconrad783 years ago Mobility and VR ....people are really seeing now that this is probably the future ....I'm not discounting the great things pcvr has done....but its getting sooo darn close ....the gap between mobile VR and PC VR ....and that gap is closing at an alarming rate ....the future will be amazing ... 1

@Cazanu4173 years ago nah PC is a must not only for the huge game library,whats coming to quest 2?san andreas from 2004?ive already played GTAV in vr i dont think i can go back to glued up fingers in 2021 even if it has motion control,ive played res4 and thats about it on my quest 2,the rest i play on my PC,boneworks and alyx alone are woth a pc let alone the ton of mods for example i got 50 extra hours in alyx due to workshop campaigns wich are insanely good,seeing res4 with 0 physics and old graphics and cut content was painfull going from pc to standalone and i regret spending 40$ on it,im 10 times more excited about the res 2,3,7,8 VR mods wich we get for literally free because the PC community is the best and most passionate,all new games are coming to quest?i literally just played legendary tales just released,and watched hubris trailer that looks breath taking,and with playstation PC team sony put together i have no doubt we are getting psvr 2 games too and im gonna get a psvr 2 for sure,just so you know the quest 2 is soo weak that for 10 years from now will not even come close to the current PC library its 7 times weaker than a gtx 1060 from 2016. ... 2

@davidwas773 years ago If this is the triple a vr game rockstar said was being made I gotta say I’m a bit disappointed. I thought we were going to get something new. I never played San Andreas and I’ve heard it’s good but it seems like rockstar is just milking old content like usual. Alternatively I think it would’ve been cool to have seen one of the red dead games in vr too. Idk I’m hoping this isn’t the last we’re going to see big title vr games from companies like rockstar and I’m hoping the game will be more stable than la noire was because as fun as the story and gameplay were the game was super buggy. ... 1

@BigSmoke8373 years ago I think so many people were upset, (and rightfully so) because we were promised a true Resident Evil 4 port and this was not it. Leon's cheesy, flirtatious dialog was nostalgic and something true fans of RE4 looked forward to! Political agenda's and forced political correctness do not belong in video games! If we want political correctness we will watch the news. We play video games to escape! Removing these lines of dialog from the game represents a false narrative that it is not ok to be a man and consentually flirt with a woman. This is ridiculous, offensive, and untrue!! There is nothing wrong with Leon's natural attraction to Ada or Ashley. These changes diminish Leon's character and the story as a whole. I find this very forced and cringy!! These story altering lines of dialog should be added back into the game immediately. Also, I found the lack of Mercenaries mode and Ada's story a pure disappointment as this is what many fans look forward to playing and gives purpose to beating the game. The removal of this end game content diminishes the replay value of this particular title. If they were to add this back into the game as well as the censored dialog you would have a near perfect Resident Evil 4 port. With the way they botched RE4 with the pointless censorship of a Rated (M) Title, fans are worried and have little faith in their ability to make a true GTA San Andreas port. We wouldn't put it past them to ruin it with their forced, and cringy, political "wokeness." GTA has a large and loyal fanbase, so the company will only be hurting themselves as many users will simply just switch platforms if this becomes a continuing pattern. The only way to stop this is to get ahead of it and raise your concerns about it now people! Censorship of someone else's artwork is wrong and unacceptable. Period. ... 7
