A Cowbird parasitized a Phoebe nest that is located by my front porch. Phoebe parents are rearing a Cowbird instead of their own babies. I'm disappointed and it is hard to watch the insects from my yard and tiny pond (dragonfly larvae) getting eaten, but this Cowbird chick is as cute as it can be. Please read this article if you are tempted, like I have been, to remove Cowbird eggs or chicks. https://www.audubon.org/news/is-it-okay-remove-cowbird-eggs-host-nests Filmed in the Missouri Ozarks, USA, on June 10, 2018, with a Sony AX100 (pictured at the end). Includes some time lapse. CC Music: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart

@RudigerHartmannمنذ 6 سنوات It is very interesting how dominantly parasitism works, and evolution did not furnish the parents with some behavior to prevent that their offspring are parasitized. Great video 15

@goshtic9565منذ 4 سنوات What's interesting is that Sparrows normally don't feed such large insects to their own babies. You see it carrying meal pieces that are even larger than what they can shallow. 5

@neneg4340منذ 3 سنوات cowbirds push other babies and eggs out of a nest, and take all the food. get the cowbird egg OUT of the nest before it hatches. Theres nothing useful or cute about cowbirds. they are mean. 10
